60.     sardonyx

Greek: sardonux, possibly meaning onyx stone from Sardis. Revelation 21:20.

Mineralogy:

    Sardonyx is banded sard, a reddish-brown form of agate. See "AGATE."

    Scripturally, sardonyx and the other foundation stones of the Holy City stand for the people of Israel and their contribution to the foundations of Christianity.
